Caption with image: “Wonderful bronze sculpture of a dancing
nude titled "Exotic Spiral" from the "High Fashion Series"
by noted American sculptor Alonzo Hauser; approximately 8-1/2"
high (not including the almost 2" high stand); signed: "HAUSER"
and labeled: "Exotic Spiral;" fine condition.”

The following is quoted from http://www.mschon.com/hauser.htm :
“Alonzo Hauser was born in Wisconsin In 1909.  He studied at the
University of Wisconsin, the Layton Art School in Milwaukee
and the Art Student's League in New York.  He apprenticed
with as a stone-carver with Amaden Merli and studied sculpture
with William Zorach. He went to France in 1931 to work and
later returned to New York, setting up his own studio in 1939
and presenting his first one-man show at the A.C.A. Gallery.
He founded the art department at Macalester College in
St. Paul, Minnesota, taught drawing and sculpture at
Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and was a visiting
critic in the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota.
He considers himself primarily a stone carver, but his High
Fashion Series were carved in wax, invested with a mixture
of plaster and powdered brick, and cast in bronze.
Hauser's list of exhibitions is enormous and includes galleries
and museums from New York, to Toronto, to Arizona.
He has one numerous awards-too many to mention here
and his work can be seen in public buildings, parks, churches,
and private collections throughout the country.  His portraits
include many famous statesmen and entertainers. (from "Hauser"
a monograph prepared for the Kramer Galleries in St. Paul,
Minnesota in connection with an exhibition of works by
Alonzo Hauser, 1966).”
